Elissa Hiller
Psychologist
B.A.Psych., Grad. Dip. Sci. (Psych)., MAAPi
Elissa has been part of the Health in Mind team since 2016, working as a registered Psychologist with a strong focus on both therapy and assessment. She supports teens and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and the complexities of neurodivergence—and is passionate about sitting with people in the thick of things, not rushing to ‘fix’, but staying curious, compassionate, and collaborative.
Alongside counselling, Elissa conducts psychological and cognitive assessments for children through to adults, exploring neurodivergence, Intellectual Disability, and Specific Learning Disorders. She is particularly passionate about advocating for those who often go unseen or are missed by traditional systems—especially brilliant maskers and those who live in the grey space between diagnoses.
With a flexible and intuitive approach, Elissa draws on evidence-based modalities including CBT, TF-CBT, Schema Therapy, EMDR, and DBT. She’s also on the cusp of becoming a registered supervisor and brings lived neurodivergent experience, a strong sense of humour, and a deep belief in people’s capacity to grow.
Before joining Health in Mind, Elissa worked across a range of roles including return-to-work rehabilitation, vocational assessments, OOHC counselling, and assessment/case management in non-profit community services—experiences that deepened her understanding of the systems people navigate and the need for truly person-centred care.
She loves being part of the Health in Mind team—especially the shared warmth, respect, and integrity—and finds joy in helping clients feel truly seen, understood, and supported.
When not in the therapy room, Elissa lives on a small property with her family and a menagerie of therapets: a cat who uses the toilet, two neurodivergent dogs, chickens, sheep, and horses. She’s an avid gardener and amateur photographer, with a penchant for long podcasts about neurodivergence and parenting, and a charming ability to be both socially insightful and totally awkward.
