How do I pay for psychological treatment?
There is a lot of ways that psychological treatment can be funded. You are able to pay privately for treatment, or use private health insurance. You can attend our practice with or without a referral.
A medicare rebate is available for psychological treatment if you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan referral from your General Practitioner. Under this referral, most people are eligible for a medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions in a calendar year. Persons who have been diagnosed with an eating disorder may be eligible for up to 40 sessions per year funded by Medicare. For more information, talk to your GP or call our office to discuss further.
In some circumstances, Health in Mind Orange can offer reduced fees under a Mental Health Treatment Plan referral, for persons who hold a Health Care Card or are on a Pension.
Psychological services can be funded in lots of different ways, depending on your eligibility. Health in Mind Orange provides psychological services that can be funded by the following sources:
- Medicare funded (if you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan referral from your General Practitioner).
- Victims Services (fully funded counselling for victims of crime in NSW). For more information, see the Victims Services webpage.
- Workers Compensation claims.
- Employee Assistance Programs (whereby your employer can fully or partially fund you attending a psychologist).
- Privately funded or Private Health Care funded clients.
- LifeTime Care and Support funded treatment
- Department of Veterans Affairs
- Family and Community Services funded treatment.
- NDIS funded treatment.
Fees will vary greatly. For further information, please contact our adminstrative team.
Our Cancellation Policy
Regular attendance and engagement with your clinician will give therapy the best chance of success. Health In Mind requests that clients provide at least three days notice before cancelling an appointment. This allows our staff a reasonable opportunity to offer the appointment to an alternative client if you can’t attend. The below cancellation fees are payable if you provide less than 48 hours notice.
- Less than 48 hours notice: 50% of the session fee.
- Less than 24 hours notice: 100% of the Session fee.
Please note that you are not eligible for a Medicare rebate if you have not attended your appointment.
If you are unable to attend your appointment face to face due to issues such as illness, COVID related isolation, or travel, we recommend contacting our office to organise a telehealth consultation.
